Desert Storm - Relaunch

Hey Guys,

as I can see some of you are still active here in forums, I am going to announce that I will re-launch the SAMP Desert Storm server.

The server will first be put into beta state without hosted-tab listing,but as soon as the beta version is stable and running well, we will move to hosted tab again.

Tomorrow morning I will set up the server using the following IP: 87.98.243.201:7500

Please (if you are interested) add this IP to your favorites list and test the server as good as you can.


Why do we first needa beta test?

The answer is rather easy: Even though we used to run on a stable script, I will have to refactor the code completely to fix bugs and increase the performance. Since many of the code segments were created without professional background knowledge, they cannot be maintained very well and will most likely cause lags.
By now I was able to raise a lot of knowledge in coding and i am working as head of programming for a company selling ERP systems. Therefore we should improve the code and make the gamemode even more enjoyable.

I hope some of you are still into SAMP and I'm looking forward to your replies. What have you guys done in the mean time?

This was unexpected to say the least

There is some bug with terrorist helicopter at the hospital. It randomly exploded as I entered base.

Im so happy that you did this Stormy. Yesterday i got an E-mail and i saw "desert Storm" and i got literally so excited. See ya all ingame and it is amazing to be back

I have now added a new NAdmin Version 3.0 where I can monitor the server performance.
Furthermore I added a crash detection plugin since the server experienced some crashes in the last 2 days.

@Big_K please let me know which helicopter exactly then I can fix this.

You may also tell me your last known stats then I can reset them to normal.

But maybe it is done by purpose (rpg spam)

In this case the kick for ammo hack is intended.
As we're using RPG this is limited to 5 or 10 ammo to avoid RPG spamming.
There's no way for a normal player to get more ammo than this.

Thanks for the other post, I will investigate the bug and re-position that vehicle .

The forum navigation should now work as it did before, i also changed the background and some other broken pictures.

/moh command crashes the server I think

Jesus christ this is quite some news. And very exciting one as well. Haven't touched SAMP in years and now I finally have a reason.

Dunno whether there are peeps who know me, but I do remember y'all. How's everyone doing nowadays?

And yes I'd say a discord would be a great addition to this. Hope to see y'all in-game.

Score and money doesn't save when reloging, only kills and deaths.
Also if you leave the server and join back in the same team, you get team balance, for example if I am the only one in the server and in Army team, if I relog, I can't join Army again because I get the team balance warning even though the server is empty.

Went through STPU commands. Seems like /commanders is not working, at least nothing happens when I type it.

/teleport command crashes the server too, sorry stormy, did it again

FIRST BUG: I don't know if it is a bug but for example me,i can't spawn a hydra with /veh because im not lvl 7,but even Big K or Loocky can't spawn an airplane with /V, it says restricted for admins.(even if /Dutyon)
But I can still spawn a hydra with /givecar (my ID) Hydra

SECOND BUG: And there is one more command that is bugged. Loocky typed /Afreeze and it didn't freeze me or himself but it should actually freeze everyone,not a big problem but i don't think it should be hard to fix either

THIRD BUG: Derby event is bugged too, I joined it.. then after the time expires and when there are not enough players it kills me and I spawn in Grove Street (happened twice out of 2 times). But i think its only on Derby event,cuz it didn't happen on Sniper Event. The bigger problem about this bug is that you spawn invincible,tried it with /burn.(you spawn with a cigarette in the hand too). Even if you have the cigarette you can hold your weapons and shoot

- Player Stats Saving should work fine now
- /moh won't crash the server anymore
- /v problem has been fixed (restricted for admins)
- Helicopter has been re-positioned in Terro Base
- Performance when players connect/disconnect have been significantly improved. This was one of our greatest problem when there were more than 10 players online,    every time someone connected/disconnected the server lagged. After investigating I found out that getting/saving player stats took a lot of time (almost 700ms when I was testing alone), therefore I made some changes to the Database structure. Now getting/saving player stats taskes 1-3ms.

- Concerning /afreeze: The /afreeze command doesn't freeze admins ofc, only normal players.


Following bugs are still to fix:
- Derby Event Spawn Bug
- /teleport crashing the server (only sometimes)
- Data for /moh and /commanders must be received from database

Good Job Stormy! The slow connect thing brought up some memories tho...

And i wanted to say that the team-balance bug after someone rejoining is still there. I wanted to join the T team but it said it was full even if i was the only player online..But it is not a big problem so take your time Stormy!

I have just performed a server restart, fixing the following bugs:

- Team-Balance is now calculating correctly when there's only 1 player online
- /teleport will not crash the server or client anymore
- Added our forum URL and IP to the gamemode information
- Derby Spawn Bug: I couldn't cause that bug to happen again, maybe it was just a connection issue (i remember this from before, it happened occasionally)


Furthermore I changed the XAT chat to HTML5, now it will not be using Flash Player anymore since it is considered unsafe for a while now.

Well, I wasn't expecting to receive an email like this. Great to see you guys still around! I might visit the server one of these days.
